Your Passionate Bucket List

After recognizing that he needs to spice up his life, we decided to make a list of ten life-altering things that he could do. The one he picked from the hat would determine his destiny…

“Your right! It’s like a bucket list but for coming to lif!” I responded. Unlike a list of things that you want to do before you kick the bucket, this list was really things that would add passion, excitement and life to every day living.

I shook the hat and he reached for a folded paper. Raising his eyes from the paper, he said with hesitation “this one doesn’t count. Its the alternating work day.” This paper asked that he switched, going into work at six am every other week.

“Yeah, ok.” I agreed, knowing that one of these folded papers held more impact-full futures, such as quitting his job or taking a month off to travel. He needed a destiny that would shake his life up more so. So he drew another paper–

And another.

And another.

And a forth. “Oh, I drew two.” He said, not being able to mask his enthusiasm under the disappointment he was trying to portray. Unfolding the fifth paper, his eyes widen as he read “Quit your job!”

“Oh, I just heard what you really are saying! You were fishing!” I say, realizing what is truly happening.

“Yeah,” says another friend, tuning into our conversation for a minute. “You wanted that not-doing.”

A not-doing is something that you do that goes against your usual doing, so that you are not-doing what you normally would. Instead you are doing something out of your ordinary realm and shaking up your life’s energy in a positive way.

There was no denying it, he confessed. He was looking for an excuse to quit. “But, not until I get my bonus. Then I’ll quite and travel for a month.” he decides.

So, we took his five papers and gave him one item, or not-doing, per month for the rest of the year. They included proposing something at work to help save the company money, going sky diving and traveling for a month.

If he keeps to theses, I say to myself, he’ll be on his way to his future.

“I want a bucket list!” Our friend says.

“I do too!” I agree.

And hence, the not-doing bucket list was introduced to us all. A list of things to improve, increase and em-passion your life. So, the question is, what would add passion to your life, make it worth living and put you on a path of destiny? What is on your passionate bucket list?
